IAN MCLEAN - A MEMBER OF THE ENGLAND INTERNATIONAL BOAT SQUAD:

A short shank hook which has an incredibly sharp point which more importantly holds its point very well over a session and is extremely strong through all the sizes but is not too thick in the wire to impede presentation.

I’ve used this hook on Wrasse and Whiting over here from the boat to very good affect, and in the Canaries for many species of Bream and Snapper etc. I even managed to hook and boat a small Atlantic Tuna of approx 6lb on a size 1 and it didn’t lose either its point or shape. I also noticed that there was a greater hook up rate over other patterns especially on fish that tend to rip at baits like Whiting and small Bream, and more often than not the fish was lip hooked, which makes unhooking a lot easier.

I will use this hook to target mini species in sizes 10 and 8, Bream, Pollock and Wrasse etc in the 6, 4 and 2 depending on the size of the resident fish and the baits being used. One thing is for sure, with the strength of this hook even a small hook will land a good fish.
